Canada’s initiative could become part of a broader international move toward regulated tokenized bank money, following JPMorgan and Citi’s deposit-token plans and the ECB’s Pontes wholesale settlement platform. This scenario is less likely in the immediate term because cross-border settlement requires legal, FX and messaging coordination across jurisdictions.
