The Congressional Budget Office expects the federal government to save $6.2 billion through 2034, although U.S. citizens and green-card holders remain eligible for the program. In addition to the loss of healthcare, new restrictions also limit legal and illegal migrants from accessing food stamps. A reported decline in the issuance of green cards is further preventing many affected immigrants from regaining eligibility for these federal benefits.
