Blake Grupe’s Injury Extends Rams Kicking Curse After Mevis Release

Sports2 days ago

The Los Angeles Rams' latest attempt to fix their special teams collapsed this week when replacement kicker Blake Grupe suffered an injury. Grupe was signed from the New York Jets practice squad to provide stability at the position after the release of Harrison Mevis, whom coach Sean McVay cut following a series of costly missed kicks.

The turmoil follows a Monday night defeat to the Buffalo Bills in which the Rams became the only team in NFL history to lose despite amassing 400+ total yards, 30+ first downs, and 5+ touchdowns with zero turnovers. McVay described himself as "sick" after the special teams disaster and hinted that key staff members could be fired as he manages a broader personnel shakeup.
